Prayer times shape the itinerary; the itinerary does not shape prayer times. Halal food is arranged, not hoped for. Hotels are alcohol-free. If a site cannot be visited without compromising that, we drop the site.
Why we started
It began with a trip
Travel, done with the right intention, is one of the most powerful ways a person can change how they see their life and their faith.
That is what happened to me. A trip for Umrah after my first year of college moved Islam from the periphery of my life to the centre of my goals, my dreams and my aspirations. I did not come home the same person who left.
As I became more involved in the Muslim community, the need for this kind of travel became impossible to ignore — and I was fortunate enough to begin organising trips for my local masjid. What stayed with me was how much people were changed by them. And how much they needed help to see what was actually in front of them, and to make the right connections.
That is the whole reason Hilal Travels exists.
What we hold ourselves to
Four commitments
These are not marketing lines. They are the things we will refuse a booking over, and the things you should hold us to.
History without embellishment
Al-Andalus was a real place with real rulers, achievements and failures. We will not flatten it into a golden legend, and we will not let it be told as though the Muslims were passing tenants. Sources named, claims checked.
Small enough to ask
Numbers are capped so that everyone travelling comes to know their guide personally — walking beside them, raising the question that occurred to them in the courtyard, and getting a real answer to it. Not a hand up at the back of a crowd.
Ihsan, or not at all
Ihsan is to do a thing as beautifully as it can be done. That is the standard every journey is held to, and the reason we will not open a destination until we have mastered it — the route, the guides, the food, the prayer. We would rather make you wait than hand you something we are still learning.

How a journey gets built
We walk it first
Every route is travelled by us before it is sold — the same hotels, the same restaurants, the same walking distances between sites, in the same season.
We find the right guide
Local, licensed, and briefed on what a Muslim group is actually there to see. Where the local guides cannot cover the Islamic history properly, we bring someone who can.
We build for suhbah
We strive to choose places and activities that build suhbah between travellers, where people enjoin good upon one another and come away spiritually fuller than they arrived.
We map the prayers
Seasonal prayer times laid over the day's route, masjids and quiet spaces identified, wudhu facilities confirmed, Jumu'ah planned where it falls.
We select the free time carefully
The itinerary is rich — you are there to see, experience, and understand as much as the days will hold. At the same time, we have thoughtfully built in free time where we believe it adds the most to the journey, giving you space to explore, reflect, rest, or simply take in your surroundings at your own pace.
We begin before departure
The journey starts well before the flight. We will always offer an orientation session, and we aim to offer additional complimentary sessions giving a historical overview, where you can grasp the history at a theoretical level — so that when you go and see the place, it has the opportunity to blossom and come to life.
Every journey ends somewhere. The question worth asking is what you brought back.
